1 ‘Exercise’ You’ll NEVER See at this Arizona Boot Camp
It is a wonderful time of year at the Total Body
Burn Boot Camp AZ
No heat or humidity, to make you sweat like crazy
It is just beautiful, other than being a little
dark in the morning; it is a great time
of year to be a ‘camper’. Especially
since we are going to unveil a new
total bootcamp challenge next week.
This nice weather also draws out
a lot of what I call the ‘fair weather’
exercisers.
Mainly walkers and joggers.
My opinion on walking as
a exercise is well known,
it is WALKING
DOES NOT COUNT!
Now some of you may want
dispute this point so feel free
to do so by leaving a comment
below.
Previously, I have stated walking
doesn’t count exercise for 2 reasons:
1. There is very little intent when
people walk, it is just activity
2. There is no progression, meaning
there is zero change, in frequency,
duration or intensity of walking.
Today I have a third point to
add to my walking isn’t exercise
argument.
Definition – if we take a moment to
think back historical, until recently
like the last 10 maybe 20 years.
as walking was never ‘defined’ as exercise.
Do you think your parents classified
walking as exercise?
What about your grand-parents?
What about your great-great-grand parents?
What about the pioneers on the Oregon Trail?
What about pre-historic ancestors?
The answer would be no, no, no, no, and NO
Only in the last 20yrs has walking morphed
into an acceptable form exercise.
Not coincidentally
corresponding with the rampant overweight and
obesity(65%) issue here in the US.
Is instead of leaving the definition of exercise
well enough alone; it has been morphed to fit the needs of
the fat and lazy.
The bar has yet again been lowered; to fit the psyche of
of the lazy.
So they can feel good about themselves, for putting
in a minimal effort and that produces mediocre results

Where does that leave us with walking, it is a great activity,
it is wonderful for physical an mental recovery and should
be practiced if not daily on a very regular basis.
Yes, it does burn a few calories
Yes, I walk several time each week
No it is not exercise, it is an activity and it is good for
you
But come on folks, let’s raise the bar even a little bit
if you only add 10 minutes of dedicated exercise
to your routine.
Something simple like the 10 minutes fury boot camp workout
we use at Total Body Burn Boot Camp AZ.
You will nudge the bar up, for the betterment of
you!

Several years ago (13) I lost 26 lbs. with a “Walking” exercise routine in 11 weeks.
And, as you mentioned, it was progressive with intensity and several calisthenics exercises (pushups, pullups, air squats, etc.) included.
Now some may say it was the calesthincs that did the trick, but I can verify without the intense “Power Walking” that was included the amount of weight/fat loss would have never occured.
A nutritional plan was also included in the program.
Good post.
Thank you.

I think that using the exercises you mention and nutrition you could have easily lost the 26lbs without the walking.
I am not so sure the terms intense and walking are that synomous
Walking has value just not as exercise
